Putting a bunch of "g" schools in above 17 is just a farcical way maintaining that "Hey, 'the system' is open and equitable..." It is a lie.

A subdivision has occurred in FBS. NO member of a "g" conference will ever break the "Top 4" or the "Top 8." Just be honest about it for once. Put the equivalent notice up "Now Hiring...Irish need not apply." instead of playing this "gotcha" game.

But then you would exclude Clemson and Alabama and Minnesota. According to Sagarin, their schedule strength was 47, 49 and 56. Memphis and Cincinnati were comparable at 63 and 67. Houston was 48, better than Alabama or Minnesota.
Houston also had a stronger schedule than Tennessee 50 and Kentucky 64 from the SEC (as well as a bunch of ACC schools). And before anyone claims Sagarin's ratings don't like the SEC, South Carolina was #1 and Auburn was #2.
