There will be more and more discussion of regional realignment as attendance figures and TV payouts continue to declined for the G5. If the Big 12 were to ever disband and a P4 be created, utter chaos would ensue among the G5 conferences. Everything would change. I believe that day is coming, and it’s coming sooner than we think.

This is one time we agree. Regional realignment is going to happen. Economic certainty in my mind.

Why?

I still have yet to get a single cogent reason for this.

Is it going to really help to replace trips to San Marcos, Arlington, Jonesboro, and Lafayette for Boca Raton, Miami, Huntington, Bowling Green, and Norfolk? Is it cheaper for some reason to travel large north-south distances than large east-west distances?

Also, it's incorrect to say TV money is dwindling. Maybe it is for CUSA, but it isn't for the rest of the G5.

Geographic alignment makes more sense more the west than it does for the east, and make more sense for CUSA than the Sun Belt. So the SBC East isn’t affected much at all, but CUSA West would benefit greatly, and the other 2 divisions would be somewhere in the middle.
