Even Gonzaga has had to squeak some games out vs. some crappy teams in the WCC. I notice when the guys are focused, like in the GCU game no one can touch us. However, teams like CSUB that are pushing, grabbing and fouling on every possession are really tough to focus.

Pushing, grabbing, and fouling give you trouble?

Hilarious! I don't know who is better at that type of "defense" - Rio or Bako. But make no mistake, Levi is the crown prince of pushing/grabbing/fouling/getting under your skin.

Cal State Bakersfield just plays physical as a team. Their intent is to bump and grab as much as possible; committing more fouls than a ref can possibly call on each possession. At some point, the refs start to swallowing their whistles.

UT Rio Grande Valley is just chippy. They try to get into your head with borderline dirty plays. UTRGV plays hard and they don't give up on any play but that is usually at the detriment of the opposing player. I still remember last season when the little used UTRGV center hurt Ivan Aurrecoechea when he was on a break away dunk.

Cal State Bakersfield's defense roughs up opponents. The opponent usually comes out of the game black and blue. UT Rio Grande Valley defense make opponents play with eyes in the back of their heads and their head on a swivel. They don't foul as much as CSUB but they make those fouls count.

Just my opinion.
When your not that good you have to play dirty. Cheap foul and Ivan hurt him for the rest of the year and did the same thing to Trev Queen on a break away. The coach of UTRGV proceeded to charge at Jans like he wanted to fight. No class.

Ivan needs to take a little part of the responsibility. If he wasn't such a mediocre free throw shooter maybe people would be less inclined to foul him.

As for Queen, did we do that? Thought his last game was a Seattle, didn't play when y'all came over here. Or maybe you're talking about last year.
