I would argue the majority of the attendance for the championship game in 2017 was due to incidental proximity of the two teams in the game. One was literally the hometown, and the other only a couple hours away. That was about as perfect as it will get for the CAA, post-VA school exodus.

Additionally, I haven't looked at Hofstra's regular avg attendance, but JB's post about them putting 5,000 people in their seats to watch the CAA championship if it was on their home court is laughable, IMO. Who knows, I may be wrong there -- but probably not.

That being said, I do agree with JB and 82 that the CAA would serve itself best to going the route of the higher seed hosting games in the tournament. Attendance for tournament games would be much higher (aside from games at NU). I also agree that having such an atmosphere at the schools would create more lifelong student and local fans of the schools as a result.

The America East Championship Games at Hofstra in 2000 and 2001 were completely sold out. When you're talking about a championship game where the winner goes to the NCAA Tournament, you can throw average attendance numbers out the window.

Would have to see it to believe it. Liberty isn't a good case study as they have great attendance anyways.

You CAA lifers have NO IDEA what a mid-major on campus championship game is like for ticket demand.

You northerners and non-CAA lifers have no idea what it's like to fully support your program.

I think the northern schools should be last in line to be lecturing the schools who actually have the best attendance in the conference. Look, I agree with the on campus championship games, but don't start pulling that "holier than thou" crap.
