Hofstra has had random sellouts when they retired numbers etc. Championship game would do funny things to boost attendance beyond normal thoughts. Hard to prove that to you, but it is true. Drexel is the same way. During peak seasons for Drexel ('06-'07, '11-'12). There were not many seats available for regular season games. NIT games were sellouts with added capacity for standing room only. A championship game would make people who don't show up, show up for that event. A good drexel team might average 1500 a game but the final would sell out. I also think fun atmospheres across college basketball is a dying breed, and this type of set up would help keep it alive.

One of my most fun games I have been to was at the RC. It was same session right after a rare Bruiser victory that VCU and Mason played. VCU had their crazy press and got out to a huge lead on Mason, and it literally hurt to blink, in the upper deck. The atmosphere was crazy awesome. Those types of atmosphere's are what we should be targeting. With our current set up of smaller fanbases, I am not sure that is possible without home courts. I also agree it is a good way to build loyal followings because it helps showcase the important of supporting the team at home, while giving you potential experiences that wont be forgotten. Ive said ever since the VA3 left, that the CAA should either Play the first couple rounds on home sites leaving just the semis and finals at a neutral site, or the top seed should host the whole thing. I am not completely against the finals being on the highest remaining seed's court, as I just explained, but there are better options for our league for generating atmosphere and attendance than a fully neutral tournament.

Also the semis last night were 1821. I would expect similar numbers for the final tonight. Elon and Delaware were not going to move the needle much. NU isnt gaining too many for the final, I could see some extra Hofstra folks show up. I think the large drop off from the quarters to the semis shows few bought books for the entire event at the CAA's pricing gouged numbers and most chose to go game by game, so that is why I expect a similar turnout (maybe slightly lower) turnout for tonight.
