Yep. Meanwhile Brownell actually has a winning record in the NCAA Tournament (3-2).

Purnell's teams were the higher seed in all 3 NCAA Tournament games, and they lost all 3, including when they lost to 12-seed Villanova in 2008. No bueno.

It's really not even debatable that Brownell >> Purnell. Yes, it took him a while to get them to the Sweet 16, where they lost by just 4 to # 1-seed Kansas. But it was also pretty clear even prior to 2018 that Brownell always had the potential to bring the program to new heights, whereas Purnell had hit his ceiling by the time he was let go.

I agree that Brownell has a higher ceiling but I'm not talking about potential.

3-2 in the NCAA Tournament beats 0-3. Actual performance: Advantage Brownell. Higher ceiling: Advantage Brownell.

Well agree to disagree. I just see making the tournament better than not making the tournament, even if it's 12 seed. Purnell also took Clemson out of the basement. I hope Brownell gets it done.
