P4 is never going to happen.

NCAA legislation is set for a P5. What that means is that any raiding of the XII or ACC and the backfill of those conferences will maintain P status.

Think about it. The ACC could lose as many as 6 members without even having to backfill if they wanted. XII would continue to be viewed as P level, particularly in basketball if they had to take in Houston, Cincinnati and Memphis. They would be considered a step up from where the AAC is now as a 9-10 team conference.

5-1-2 gives the little guy like Georgia Tech or Northwestern a fighting chance.
