Rice missed 6 FTs during that stretch (including the front end of a 1-and-1). Combine cold shooting from the floor with poor shooting from the line and you get a really bad stretch. UH also went 5/6 on 3-pt attempts during that run. A couple of the looks were pretty open, but some of them were strongly contested and UH was just hot.

6 of those 3’s were second or third chance points following offensive rebounds and kick out for the 3. At that point we sacrificed some perimeter defense to try and help rebound. Also unlike the 1st half UH was hot from 3 and the more they gained rhe upper hand the more they relaxed and shot better. Also we were without Murphy who has become an excellent defender and rebounder.

I was listening to the end of the game while driving, so I didn't see what happened, but in the FB broadcast's post-game interview, the UH coach said the change that precipitated their game-ending/winning run was when they (the Cougs) switched to a zone defense after finally realizing that they couldn't guard our Owls 1-on-1.

And did that realization occur during the 5+ minute media/Facebook timeout when they had none of their own TOs remaining?
