I just sorta wonder if maybe Saban won't bring him in to replace Sark. The Saban coaching rehabilitation program has been going on for a while, and I could see a fit. He is an OC who beat Sanban in the playoffs, and there aren't many of those. If nothing else, I would guess that Saban would like to have his Texas recruiting connections.
BoB is heading to Bama already as their new OC.
Wondering if BoB will try and negotiate some “blockbuster” transfer portal trades... Fricken idiot...
Missed that.
BoB and Saban do have the Belichick connection, so that makes some sense, although I don't see BoB's scheme fitting as well with where Bama is now as Sark's did.
He doesn't really need a scheme so much as he needs to teach the running backs how to hurdle defenders in the prone position. Saban is clearly a superb recruiter and coach but the scheme is in the lack of a college salary cap.

I think the scheme has a bit more sophistication than that, but you are correct in that the heart of this program in recruiting. And they've almost gotten to the point that they don't recruit, they select. There just aren't many kids in the southeastern portion of the USA who would not at the very minimum give Alabama very serious consideration if they came calling. Their recruiting is kind of, "Which 5-stars do we want?"

When visiting my mom several years ago, I took my G/F on a tour of the facilities. She was like, "Wow! This is incredible! This is like an NFL team!" And we didn't even have time to do the Bryant museum.

I can remember when Denny Stadium seated 28,000 and the NE light stanchion came out of the top of the Kappa house. We used to park at Tuscaloosa HS and walk through a graveyard to get there. A little spooky after night games. Rice was definitely a step up in facilities from that, but things have reversed mightily in the last 50 years.

They did some cool stuff scheme wise - but again everything tends to work when your QB gets so little pressure that the one fumble he had in the championship game was more out of the shock of a defender being close to him than the impact.

Speaking of resources - I'm too lazy to do the work and you're the resident historian but after the Herman firing I'd wager that UT has spent more money paying coaches to go away in the last 10 years or so than we have paid our coaches since the inception of the program?
