A Combination of talent and coaching is a thing...your making a black and whited the topic without nuance.. the entire basis of your point is that penny has elite coaching ability or has no coaching ability at all...
your point doesnt allow the very common sense point that: sampson is a better coach than penny, but penny is still a decent coach mixed with talent advantage won some game
coaching still mattered more, but can be compensated by a talent advantage

basic math-- lets say full coaching is worth 50points and full talent points is worth 40points (coaching is worth more)

Sampson has {45 of the 50 coaching points} + {15 of the 40 talent points} = (45 +15) = 60

penny has {30 of the 50 coaching points} and (35 of the 40 talent points} = (30 +35) = 65

in this very simple and very basic explanation= coaching mattered most, yet penny still won based on talent, because at the end of the day penny still has coaching points himself and not at zero....

i dont know how else to explain this without being condensing ...this is very basic, and yet something you no seem to be able to grasp

this pretty much says that coaching COULD have an overall value 10 points higher than talent, which I agree with. If using a 100 point scale, the last 10 points could be location/fan involvement.

He gives a greater weight to coaching, but maximizing talent is what counts according to his formula.

In the example he used, yes. I guess I took your comment to mean overall despite different situations
