The tournaments will still run, the TV contracts will still pay out....... These kids should be allowed to capitalize on whatever their market worth is. The NCAA uses them to put the product on the field and make money off of it; therefore, the players should be allowed to use the NCAA to make money off of it too.

Plain and simple.

The NCAA doesn’t use the athletes, the colleges do. The TV contracts and other major revenue come from the conferences, bowls (which are not part of the NCAA) and colleges themselves.
The NCAA only gets revenue from the basketball tournament. They don’t promote the athletes in the tournament.

The NCAA can deem a team ineligible to participate in the national championships if they don’t meet the standards set by the hundreds of colleges of the organization.

The NCAA is not going to have the final say in this saga. Congress will.
I doubt congress will have any say in this. The IRS will have a say as the rules for amateur organizations have been established and are in no way going to change. There isn’t any public will to make congress try to rewrite the tax code for non-profit one organizations especially amateur athletic organizations.

There is already legislation being discussed in Congress, similar to the dozen or so states who have initiatives going.

Finebaum had a sports rights guy on the Friday for an interview who said that "the genie was out of the bottle and that nothing was going to stop this" and since this guy wasn't in the end of the business that would be signing up kids endorsements but rather as a broker of rights in general, and spent more time on the political and legal end and wasn't speaking for his firm, everything he said had the ring of truth to it.

Government is already working on this issue and what they are trying to do is to shape an overarching piece of legislation that will bring some conformity to the processes already underway in the states. So yeah, it's going to happen, how, and what it permits and doesn't permit, are really the only questions that remain.
