Miami's offense in the first quarter was more imaginative that mostly anything UC has shown so far - especially their running game.

UC needs to get their act together on the offensive line and try some different things with the running backs. At least 80% (I'm probably exaggerating this) of the running plays appear to be right up the middle and the defense is just waiting for it.

Miami's RB's seemed to be able to run to the outside and were quick. Warren is a beast but he is not real speedy and probably not suited to outside running plays.

Someone mentioned it earlier in the thread - it would be nice if UC/Ridder could learn how to execute options plays. Ridder could be very dangerous when running the option.

It's early but after watching the game and looking at the remaining schedule it's going to be a tough season unless UC can fix some things on offense and defense. The AAC looks pretty tough with the exception of UConn and ECU.

IMHO a section of our playbook had to be thrown out of the window after McClelland went down with the ACL injury the week of the UCLA game. Yes they could run some of those plays with Montgomery and maybe Doaks (who is down), but my guess is they are not yet comfortable running some of that stuff with RM yet. RM has looked impressive thus far in limited touches I must say.

I have a read a lot of comments on social media in the past couple of weeks about the play calling and what I must say is that folks need to understand this staff is not going to suddenly run BK's playbook from 2009 or go Air Raid all of a sudden. This staff's philosophy is more Jim Tressel-like (particularly later JT years) than Urban Meyer. They want to wear defenses down so that come late in the 3rd quarter and into the 4th quarter they can impose their will on you by moving the line of scrimmage. This is why you always see Mike Warren starting out kind of slow but getting better as the game goes along. He is the perfect back for this type of offense.

They've actually run a couple pass plays this year that they used last year with CM using Warren, and he's had nice gains. I'd be real surprised if you do not see them trying to hit Warren more out of the backfield. He's looked good catching the ball this year. He's very effective when you can get him the ball at full stride.
