Miami's offense in the first quarter was more imaginative that mostly anything UC has shown so far - especially their running game.

UC needs to get their act together on the offensive line and try some different things with the running backs. At least 80% (I'm probably exaggerating this) of the running plays appear to be right up the middle and the defense is just waiting for it.

Miami's RB's seemed to be able to run to the outside and were quick. Warren is a beast but he is not real speedy and probably not suited to outside running plays.

Someone mentioned it earlier in the thread - it would be nice if UC/Ridder could learn how to execute options plays. Ridder could be very dangerous when running the option.

It's early but after watching the game and looking at the remaining schedule it's going to be a tough season unless UC can fix some things on offense and defense. The AAC looks pretty tough with the exception of UConn and ECU.

I don't know how often they are actually running it, but often times I think Ridder doesn't make the right read on what appears to be a zone read. He gives it to Warren when the end is crashing inside and the outside is open if he keeps it. The one time I remember him making the right read was the 4th down conversion against OSU.

He has extreme difficulty reading the back-side end in the backfield mesh on zone/read calls. One of my biggest gripes with him...luckily we've got a QB coming in who can do incredibly well at the same.
