Careful, I said that last week and folks couldn't understand why I could make that observation.
While I predicted a win against VMI, we are a middle of the pack SoCon team at this time. Observations not much different from those I saw last week:
1. Offensively we execute about 50% of the time (that is the sync issue mentioned by 81). Lack of offensive efficiency is glaring on 3rd down conversions.
2. Defensively we execute about 75% of the time.
3. The offense's mistakes puts too much pressure on a pretty good ETSU defense.
4. Far too many penalties, 9 against VMI, 11 against Shorter.
5. As of now, Mitchell's range is 15 yards. The long scoring pass play was on blown coverage and the trajectory of the pass looked like a punt.
6. When Mitchell is rushed he has the propensity to throw behind the receiver. He will probably get better but he is a freshman QB starting his 2nd game.
7. Special teams play is suspect.
Again, not negativity just my observations and with improvement the Bucs might move up the SoCon ladder. Right now they are a middle of the pack team.
In my opinion, at this point in the season:
Furman looks like it is them and then everyone else in the SoCon.
WCU and Wofford are abysmal at this time.
Samford a surprise and an unknown.
The remainder of the conference is a log jam.
