The lines on both sides of the ball looked much better than teams of the past. In fact, the defense could have made a statement with a little help from the offense. Dropped passes, fumbles and poor QB leadership caused most of the scoring spread. If the coaching staff can correct these mistakes, we will see a much improved team as the season progresses. At least, I see some legitimate FBS talent on this team.
I sat down and watched the game again today and I agree with you. While we kept shooting ourselves in the foot with fumbles, dropped balls, poor calls/execution and other miscues, they never did get going, I think we have some talent there that can compete in the MAC. I also think ASU is better than given credit for, we’ll have to see how the season unfolds to see how they turn out, but I think they can be better than they were last year once their young QB gets more comfortable. Last year they played a handful of top 25 teams and won a couple of them.
