I think you're right that they wouldn't use that particular term... unless someone comes forward and claims that they reached the position they were in through engaging in trading sex for position. In that case, we'd have to define who 'they' are and also 'context/forum'. I doubt they'd say it on the senate floor, I feel certain some PACs would put it in an ad (if an ad were appropriate) and I can all but guarantee it'd be said on forums like this.

The second part of your question is interesting though...
I recall how people spoke of Sarah Palin entering beauty contests... hardly flattering by many. I don't know if I can find slut, but I recall Bimbo and plenty of non-flattering remarks. Apparently working your way through college is only a virtue in certain situations.

Democrats (at high levels) certainly are careful in what they say about Republican women... but that doesn't mean that there aren't thousands of blogs/small articles/opinion pieces demeaning them sexually.... nor that they aren't accused of being 'victims' of the party or the men in their lives, which is in many ways is worse. At least a slut is choosing her path. A victim has no choice.
