I didn't say inherit, which would mean after his father's death. And my edit was in response to the statement that he "got rich as a businessman." I never said that Trump did not make money on his own after getting money from his father.

By pretty much every report I have seen, he took over part of his father's real estate business and his father game him numerous and large, sometimes shady, loans to help him early in his career. These totaled millions and millions of dollars. To me, that means he started out super-rich and used that money to become filthy-rich. But he did not "get rich" because of his business success or acumen. He started rich and got richer. That was my only point.

He did better than most with any start -- when one can parlay any start by 2 orders+ of magnitude that beats the pants of most anyone.

Most who start with a seed of, say, 100,000 are doing smashing if they parlay that into 600,000; parlaying 10,000,000 into 500 million or billion shows decent business acumen, same holds for parlaying 1,000 into 50,000.

The starting point that you seemingly complain about is pretty much immaterial to the comment when you stop and look at it, that is look at something beyond the raw talking point response.
