No idea. Are they the only profs on campus?

Where did the students get the idea that conservative speakers were facists and deserved to be shut out? Parents? Bible study? Bus station bathrooms?

Probably not from professors on campus. I mean, were your politics only influenced by professors?
. I had no real politics then. A blank slate. If I had cared less about beer and women and cards, maybe I could have found somebody, some Democrat, to explain to me why the Viet Nam war was a good thing.

My politics were influenced by life. In my undergrad days, I was liberal. Not an activist, but a supporter. After getting out and earning a living an then starting a business, I became more conservative. Still not an activist, still just a supporter.

How can you say so positively, “probably not from Professors on campus”? Even Obama wrote about hanging out with Marxist professors. Are you calling Obama a liar?

Lol - what? How did Obama get dragged into this again?

I said “only” influence by professors. I’m sure that there are some professors on every campus who are politically active, either on the left or right (with more being active on the left). But those professors are certainly not the ONLY influence on the politics of the youth on campus. It’s much more likely that students are influencing each other, if anything, because that is who spend the most time together. Professor’s have very limited time and reach, especially at universities with students numbering in the thousand to tens of thousands.

We are back to “only”? Already? Well, I certainly never said only in this discussion.

Yes, I agree that students influence each other. Yes, I agree that every professor does not influence every student. But professors publicizing their beliefs will influence some, who may in turn influence other students, and so it spreads like a cancer. When the impacts on malleable youth come from every direction, they tend to have effect.

Why are you arguing that profs have zero impact? I think I will pull a leftie move here and ask for proof that profs do not influence students.

And Obama was brought in because in his book he said he liked hanging around with Marxist profs. How would he know they were Marxist if they did not talk about their beliefs?
