As I've said elsewhere... they have an outcome (getting Trump out of office) in search of a reason/means... and at least to this point, they aren't sure they have the votes, either in Congress OR in the general election.

I think the challenge here really is the DNC. Trump won because he motivated the fringes of the Republican party. He didn't really motivate the base, but voting against Hillary did that. The RNC tried to stop him very aggressively. I believe the Dems will have to nominate a relative fringe candidate and get the base to come vote against Trump... which seems to be how they are headed.... but the DNC has already openly cheated Bernie in the last election. I don't know if they will allow someone who isn't 'the party'.
