So Quo, you're basically dead set against a tiny percentage of a chance there is an upset in P5 CCG's? An upset in those games would be a huge deal in college football and the networks, underdogs, and Joe Casual-Fan would love it. Plus, it could mean multiple conference bids if a #1 team loses. Surely nobody would exclude them from the playoff for losing a close one to a team playing for its life?

As of now, the only team with an incentive to win the CCG is the one with a playoff shot. The possibility of the underdog winning for a playoff spot will:

1 - Increase CCG attendance
2- Increase TV viewership
3 - Create amazing storylines a la March Madness
4- Increase more interest in division games, making casual rivalries more fierce


I think you are dead wrong here that this is in any way bad for the sport.
