I’m no Doc, but have some “hip experience”.

This sounds, if reported correctly I have no idea, torn not pulled. That means either separated from the bone or something that could severely weaken the hip muscle with scar tissue etc., and the hip is a big un for all kinds of daily living. Balance, normal activity like climbing steps or swinging a golf club, whatever.

As far as football goes, the hips are really important for an athletic position like wide out.

Anyone know if he left school altogether or just hung up the cleats?

Regardless, wish him well, that’s gotta suck for a young guy like that.
