You realize most college teams finance their stadiums so they don’t actually own them...and that’s essentially a type of renting one.

So you make the argument that homeowners don't actually own their home because they have a mortgage? Pretty bad take.

Is UTSA the only stadium in the conference that doesn't belong to the school? Is it the only stadium in the conference that is off campus? I guess UAB is joining that situation, right?

They don’t own it. The bank owns it. You’re just obligated to make payments according to a contract. I live in an 800k house and I put 25% down when I bought it, and when I get my bonuses I put it towards my mortgage, but I have about 400k left to pay. Once I pay that I own it, but I don’t own it now. I dunno how you could justify owning a house when you’re borrowing money.

Out of all the posters out here, you would be the one to respond to a pretty simple question with letting us know how much your house is worth and how much of a downpayment you made, lol. Congratulations! Then you should know that owning the house, while paying a mortgage, is still very different than not owning the house and renting it from someone else. If you cannot differentiate how these work, then your mortgage provider did a pretty bad job when he got you to sign 100 sheets of paper.
