I'm all for BYU for football-only but does VCU really add all that much though? With 11 basketball teams, we can play a full conference round-robin like the Big East will if we wanted too. I just don't see the allure of VCU. Sure, they have a decent program but they are no Gonzaga. If we see a mid-major program rise to a Gonzaga level or maybe even what Xavier was before joining the Big East then I would get adding a non-football member.

Then again, Daddy ESPN will basically tell us what to do so it's not like it really matters what the conference wants.

We don’t want a round robin. That equals two games a year vs Tulane, USF, UCF, ECU, and Tulsa. Look every once in a while a couple from groul will be good but overall they have little fan support and not a whole lot of basketball success outside of Tulsa. That group does little to to sell tickets when they come here unless it’s the oddball year that one them is good. VCU and Dayton sell out their home arenas and have a significant history of good basketball.

yeah but those teams are supposed to be sweet. seriously though, that's a great point. i'd be ok i guess with vcu if everyone else turned us down. they've had decent success the past decade. hardly points to sustainability, but... tulane and ecu twice in the same year? sha right
