I believe the signers took great risks, where wise patriotic men, and they had a vision of what this country could be and they knew they needed to lay a foundation that later generations could build on. Fundamental to their value systems was a belief in higher authority and above all they needed to be reasonable; all had well traveled lives, that made them value fairness.
But! I think the internet takes the natural 'yarn spinning' of most good story-tellers and makes them straight up lying sacks of pig s*&^.
First off I used to respect snopes as 100% until I heard the are extremely left focused. They should be non-non-political.
So I read the entire link above. Apparently most of what is stated is true according to snopes. Appears to be some exaggerations typical of historic figures but I didn't really see the "lyin sacks of pig s*&^."
Odd side of the fight you are on.
