Give me your best conference members with Cincinnati and don't hold back. I don't care if you just list the teams or you also give your reasoning/analysis. I posted this lineup over on the College Sports Main Board:
Auburn
Cincinnati
Clemson
Georgia Tech
Louisville
Miami
Pittsburgh
Vanderbilt
Virginia Tech
Wake Forest
I went for metro areas and/or non-flagship programs but paying attention to an eastern geography with Cincinnati and Pittsburgh setting the northern limit. I also like a smaller conference of 10 members playing a round robin schedule. This conference would enable us to compete in football, be top tier in hoops and not too shabby in baseball. We would also have the majority of games within a reasonable travel distance. So, I balanced outside the box with practicality.
Awesome thread. I'd like a conference with teams of a comparative pedigree/budget/location:
Cincinnati
Memphis
Louisville
Indiana
NC State
Virginia Tech
Georgia Tech
Pittsburgh
Houston
SMU
UCF
USF
I like yours with the idea of similar pedigree/budget/competition but would personally go a bit more regional, adding West Virginia, Virginia, Purdue, Kentucky for 16 teams. The thing I miss most about the old Big East was having road games that were within a reasonable driving distance. Probably why I wouldn't hate Marshall in our conference (still think adding no one is the best option right now).
