I like this ruling, though sooner or later it's going to happen. Provides a little disincentive to prevent G5s from becoming the farm system to the P5s.

It is weird to me that we let coaches and all other students move freely between colleges with no negative impact (apart from maybe a few lost credits).

And we already have high majors recruiting mids to transfer. But mids do the same thing to low majors and players who aren't getting run on high majors. This would just make it simpler and more equitable for all.

Bingo. We already hold athletes to stricter standards than non-athlete students with regard to making and receiving money, we shouldn't be putting up barriers to their ability to do what they do best at another school when we're not making students sit out a year between schools. We certainly don't seem to have a problem with schools pulling a scholarship from a player that might make good grades and work hard in practice, just because we think we can use it on a better player.

We don't? Who was that? And if we don't have an issue with it, I can think of a few guys who should have been shown the door. My understanding was if a kid worked hard and got good grades he would keep his scholarship no matter what. I've heard ODU honors scholarships for injured athletes who can no longer play too. I could see a coach saying "if you want to play in a game you should transfer", but not revoke a scholarship if he's practicing hard and getting good grades. And of course, not smoking doobies.

We do it in football every year. You think all these kids are transferring on their own? Some are transferring because they won't have a spot next year.
