I think depth can be key as long as it’s not too much depth where guys get frustrated. This years ODU team was a good example. In the out of conference, we were a mess. Seemed like we couldn’t figure out who was gonna bring energy. But after the departures, everyone knew how much they would play. I thought we had a good balance for those 7 games. We were 4-3 and the losses were all close road games to decent teams. Then Wade went down, our most versatile player, and we were thin. We had to guard against foul trouble and play way too much zone. Our defense suffered tremendously. I think we really need 8 guys that play regularly with predictable minutes. Then you have a couple more guys for situational basketball. Foul trouble, specialty situations, injury.

It’s easy to say depth isn’t important, but then when your best player tears his knee up it changes things.

You arent winning anything if your best player tears knee up
Unless you are Duke. Nobody has depth To withstand that in todays cbb
