Someone posted earlier that Chad reported we are no longer pursuing Taryn. But we seem to be in a good position for Rasir Bolton, who I think is a far better option. He was Penn State's 2nd leading scorer as a true freshman. His family is pushing for a waiver to play immediately.

Imagine this team with Jarron, Jaevin, Rasir Bolton, incoming freshman Jeremiah Donovan, plus hopefully a decent grad transfer at center. That roster would undoubtedly be better than what we were expecting before Mick left. There's a few ifs there, but they're all within reach.

Eh, not really. Rasir Bolton had an Offensive rating of 98.1 and Drtg of 106.9. He averaged almost 2 turnovers per assist. And his effective field goal percentage was only 4.43%, 2 point percentage 40.4% and 3-point percentage 36.1%. Compare this to Logan Johnson, Ortg 102.3, Drtg 95.1, effective field goal percentage 50%, 2-point percentage 54.1%, 3-point percentage 25% and more assists than turnovers (plus was higher rated then Bolton coming out of HS). Bolton's production came largely because of minutes and taking lots of shots. Give Logan the same opportunity and I would expect better numbers.

Donovan got a rating now of 0.88 on 247 (same as LaQuill Hardnett last year), compared to Samari Curtis (0.9 and that's after dropping quite a bit recently).

Jaevin would be a big get. But the loss of Brooks equalizes that. Plus it's going to harder to fit the new guys in since they haven't been here multiple years.

So Bolton for Johnson is a slight drop.

Donovan for Curtis is a slightly bigger drop.

Jaevin for Brooks I'd call a wash (I'm not convinced by our backup centers).

Overall I'd say a bit worse off in the above case then we were. But I was expecting a top 15 team, so top 25 from next years team if we get Jaevin and Jarron returns is quite possible. If we add a quality grad transfer center along with everyone else, we would be better off then last year. But I haven't heard us connected to any names at center lately.
