I've never worried about recruiting rankings or stars. I've stated multiple times that I think they are a joke once you get outside of the top 50 (or maybe 100) or so guys. Look at the NBA/NFL draft and how many guys end up as busts. On the NCAA level there are about 10 times as many guys to evaluate and nowhere close to the same budget to do so.

As I said on the other thread, Davenport looks like a very good get who should be ready to play from day 1. Despite his low ranking.

But I figured I'd throw in a jest for all those Mick haters who bitched about us getting unranked (or even 2-star or low 3-star) guys and are now happy we got Davenport.

Uhhhh... Weren't you one of the ones complaining about what UC was doing compared to VT?

I'm not complaining, just comparing. For those fans that think UC should be a top 25 recruiting program. If they finally realize that UC is not actually that nationally respected, maybe they won't do their best to run off Brannen in 5 years when he also fails to regularly bring in top 100 recruits. We are a upper mid-major program that's going to rely mostly on developmental players and 4-year type guys (at least until we move to a better conference).

If UC wasn't nationally respected after 13 years of Cronin, then Bohn really did make the right choice not to throw money at him.

We are nationally respected as an upper level mid-major team. That doesn't make us a top 25 destination for recruits though.
