It's not difficult to argue that Minter got screwed. He was fairly successful compared to his last three predecessors, and it was sort of a raw deal that he didn't have a chance to show what he could do with BE conference affiliation.

As for the ND game, the missing ingredient in UC's football ascent is wins over elite programs. Going back to Dantonio, and despite some excellent teams, all we have is losses against the elites: losses against Ohio State, losses against Oklahoma, the losses to Florida, Tenn. and Michigan. The closest we have come is a couple of wins against VT and WVU, but they are sort of borderline elite programs, and we lost the game to VT that mattered. It's great to have a match-up with ND; you cant beat them if you don't play them.
