In before Cubsway brings up ACT scores! When I grew up in central IL like 15 years ago ISU was known as I Screwed Up and the local community college ICC was known as I Can't Spell. I would say ACT scores jumped NIU about 2010 and I think it had more to do with all the Chicago media coverage about crime in DeKalb, even though Bloomington has a higher violent crime rate. Anyway, it'll swing back the other way, but what won't swing back is the fact ISU is an overgrown teachers college with limited course offerings and research and irrelevant football.

Tell this to NIU"s Board of trustees when they need to make cuts across the board because of declining enrollment. Western Illinois just cut 125 people because of declining enrollment. Staffing needs are based on data not perceptions or values. I can only presume that NIU will be cutting very soon.
