NIU is a comprehensive university with law, engineering, satellite campuses throughout Chicago offering MBAs for working people. ISU is an overgrown teachers school that’s about reached its ceiling. And football is the perfect analogy to this — NIU long ago decided to aim higher, while ISU is content to play D2 and cater to teachers. That’s not going to change, at least not anytime soon.

When did NIU decide to aim higher???? Whenever that was, it didn't work because its currently in a free fall while ISU continues to excel and grow, most recently they are adding an engineering school.. their business department continues to improve.. If you think it is a teacher school, you are way off base, but they certainly do have a top tier education program.

Have you compared the two campuses lately? One had made major improvements, build hotels downtown next to campus, off campus housing has exploded... And the other one continues to decline..

The vision at ISU should be to become more like Kansas St, Iowa St and Oklahoma St and Illinois not seeing that happens is deplorable for the entire state.
