wait.... so now the idea that you could redirect a lot of money from Administration and DEI initiatives in public schools towards actual education is a 'wild, conspiracy-based' claim??

Lol. The TEA (and ever single teacher I know socially... which is about half a dozen in my close family and probably 30 in total, not including my children's current teachers) might want to have a word with you.

I'm not referencing the TEA discussion.

I was referring to GoodOwl's claims and the apparent issue that OO has with asking him to provide ANY evidence of those claims.

I haven't seen GoodOwl post in this thread... maybe I missed it. OO is speaking to Lad's insistence that people expressing their beliefs must somehow support them to his satisfaction, else they're spreading disinformation.

OO’s new meme wherein he chides us for asking people to back up their claims with actual facts predates this TEA discussion. I was responding to his meme here, not the TEA discussion.

Quote:You are quite literally comparing GoodOwl's posts to a belief that overhead and DEI in education are poor uses of educational funds and resources...

You are quite literally completely incorrect.

Quote:while complaining that someone else may have compared GoodOwl to Galileo... which I assume was REALLY about the fact that Galileo's ideas were often dismissed 'in his time'- and 'by the cogenti'... and what REALLY matters is whether or not something is true... and not whether it is popular. The National Enquirer is the source that broke the John Edwards scandal.

Sure. When you make 500 completely against the grain claims, I’m sure 25 of them will turn out to be true.

Quote:While you may or may not agree that DEI is a poor use of educational funds and resources... there IS no 'fact' of a belief like that in either direction... and never will be... and that is Lad's demand... and I find that to be intentionally confrontational and not remotely designed to engage in reasonable conversation. I tried to engage him earnestly, to the point where he made obvious that he never intended to engage in anything other than to 'look for a fight'.

I’m not gonna go back and look at it, but in my mind it was something like this (and yes, I am putting words in mouths, because I am not going to take the time to review the exact quotes):

#s: if only we got rid of that woke DEI stuff in schools we could save a lot of money

Lad: you seem to be saying that schools devote a significant amount of their budget to woke DEI stuff. I don’t think that’s the case. Can you support this assertion?

#s: Dont make up stuff that I didn’t say!!!!!

Lad: wait, wut

Ham: Lad, these are the reasons that you are being unreasonable.

#s: Lad, I have no respect for you and I will no longer engage with you until 10 minutes from now when I will engage with you again.
