Rejecting the "independent state legislature" theory (exemption from state judicial review) on elections:

The opinion has a nice historical discourse on the origin of judicial review in the states. And despite its title, this case is not a battle of 1970s sitcom stars playing Minneapolis residents Mary Richards and Rhoda Morgenstern.

On Moore v. Harper, the New York Times recently ran an article that tried (somewhat comically) to dissect the opinion and dissent according to the Justices' presumed political ideologies. But both the opinion and the dissent are relentlessly non-ideological. The article was a nice illustrations of how tenaciously leftists cling to their notion that the courts must (and should) always be about ideology, and why they have such difficulty understanding the fact that judicial restraint is a commitment to process, not to policy outcomes.
