I don't think accomplishing this is as easy as you are making this out to be. You're asking the fox to approve funding for additional security at the henhouse - any plans on how to get that done?

I don't have a problem with oversight, but I do have a problem with too much oversight. Too much is worse than none at all.

I don't think the political appointees in the justice department, or the chief executive to whom they report, are any more inherently virtuous than Supreme Court justices. I would hope that you could at least acknowledge the possibility of oversight power being misused.

Sure, of course it could be misused. I am not, in general, in favor of public servants retiring from a life of public service with hundreds of millions of dollars. I think when public service is seen as a part towards generational wealth like that, it encourages the wrong type of person to pursue it, and it encourages the wrong type of behavior whilst serving.

Nobody can. This whole brouhaha is over a possible leak of a decision already made.
