Please stop asking this question this way because it misrepresents what SOC is. This law does not in any way change the SOC. All it does is change the determinate for an elective procedure from one date to another. That really doesn't involve and certainly doesn't change the medical standard of care. IF something is illegal, they won't do it... but IF it is legal, they would follow the standard of care.

The SOC for an abortion at 6 weeks, 20 weeks and 28 weeks remains exactly the same as before the law change. The only difference is, whether that abortion at 20 weeks is allowed WITHOUT a threat to the life of the mother. Previously, the answer was yes. Now the answer is no... but the SOC for an abortion at 20 weeks is the same either way.

I don't know who brought up community standards, but they play no part in medical decision making.

Community standards certainly play a role in malpractice suits. I would assume they would play a role in a criminal trial as well if a doctor is accused of criminal negligence.
