Is that type of nonanswer actually better than what she did? In neither case does it provide any insight into the nomnee. So why bother going through those pointless motions? In a sense I would think that perhaps you would respect her response.

In terms of Republicans struggling to answer the question that they posed to the nominate as a gotcha... they had plenty of time to come up with a reasonable answer after the fact. It was certainly predictable that the question would be posed to them as well. The fact that they could not come up with anything better despite having plenty of prep time points to the obvious difficulty with this question in this setting.

I think that we have seen the pioneering of a new way to skate through confirmation hearings. Perhaps when we have a Republican nominee and the RVW question is asked, the response will be "I am not a doctor" and then we shall see how quietly the left takes that response.

In any case, I think that soon we shall have a case before the court involving this very question, and Jackson will then make her answer known, even without benefit of a biology degree. It's just another variation on the theme of "pay no attention to that man behind the curtain."

Is there anybody here who would say that they are not sure if their mothers, wives, daughters were women?
