Ted Cruz hit that point precisely yesterday:

Cruz: many democratic members of this committee seem to be treating this hearing as a policy hearing -- on what's good health care policy, on what's good gun policy, what's good voting rights policy. Judge Barrett, in your view is it the responsibility of a federal judge to implement policy positions that they might happen to agree with?

Barrett: Thats your job, not a judge's.

Ted Cruz then went on to note an example that he said is very close to him, school choice. And noted that that arena is the state legislatures.

Cruz: Do I want a federal judge mandating school choice across the nation? it might be simpler to convince 5 justices to mandate to every jurisdiction you must have school choice. It would be a lot easier than convincing 51 or 60 Senators, trying to convince the House. [] It would be far easier to convince 5 philosopher kings to mandate it. But that would not be an appropriate judicial role. I personally would not want that, even though I support it.
