Hofstra led 7-0 before playing a horrible second half of the first half. Elon went up 10 with 18:55 left, which was their largest lead, and a larger lead than Hofstra ever had. Hofstra cut the lead to 1, but then went down 5. Hofstra took their first lead of the second half on a three by Jalen Ray to go up 52-50 with 10:46 left. Elon took their last lead on a three-point play with 10:20 left. Jacquil Taylor made 1 of 2 free throws to tie it at 53 with 10:06 left. Hofstra got the offensive rebound, and Ray made a three to go up 56-53 with 9:56 left. Hofstra led the rest of the game by as much as 8 on three occasions. Tyler Seibring made a three with 3:38 left to go down 65-64, but Taylor responded with a dunk. Sheldon Eberhardt made 2 free throws with 12 second left to go down 72-71. Wright-Foreman made 2 free throws with 10 seconds left to make the final score. Seibring missed a three that would have tied it. Technically, time should have been put back on the clock, but it wouldn't have changed the outcome because Hofstra got the rebound. Elon's only chance with time added would have been for a Hofstra turnover without inbounding the ball followed by a pass to the basket because there wouldn't have been enough time left for a catch-and-shoot. It's a time when everybody is better by the referees not reviewing and adding time.
