First, who says you didn't? Second, it's hard to turn down a guaranteed position as a DC at an ACC school for a "your one on a list of candidates that we are considering for HC" at a G5 school. Unless your AD was going to immediately hand the HC job to him on the spot, he'd be crazy to tell Satterfield no.

I think he also may have had some of the same issues Dell McGee had when we lost Fritz. If I remember right, Brown has only been coaching for something like 4 years. McGee had been a HS coach as recently as 4 years prior to us losing Fritz. I had a big problem with offering a guy the HC position that didn't even have four years as a position coach in college under his belt. He's turned into an amazing recruiter and RB coach at UGA. But a the time, there was no way that I would have hired him at GS. I wonder if Brown will have the same issue with experience keeping him from the HC job.

I never said he wasn't approached. He very well could have been and just turned it down. I really can't imagine he wouldn't have at least listened though. Louisville is going to be a rebuild. Brown I'm sure knew that if he became App HC he could reel off two great seasons and get a P5 job of his own.
