Report: Kansas University may pursue Bearcats offensive coordinator Mike Denbrock

All that said, it will take a lot to lure Denbrock away from head coach Luke Fickell and the Bearcats. Sources have made it clear that he’s very happy within the program and knows that the future is extremely bright at Cincinnati.

God Bless having a great head coach, program stability, and a program on an upward trek. The timing of the raises to the assistant coaches couldn't have been better. No guarantees, but I don't seen Denbrock leaving for Kansas - the graveyard program for coaches. Just spitballin' here, but does anyone feel that Coach Fick and company see the Urban Meyer retirement as an opportunity for our program to make more gains in the State of Cincinnati (Ohio)? Meaning, Denbrock, et.al., see a rare opportunity to strike while the iron's hot (i.e., recruiting, on field success, building our brand, etc.) and loving and appreciating that challenge.

As an FYI... even before the raises, Denbrock was the highest paid assistant on staff earning $465K a year.

Top paid assistants at each Big 12 school:
Texas - Todd Orlando, 1.71 million
TCU - Sonny Cumbie, 963,416
WVU - Tony Gibson, 901,000
Oklahoma - Mike Stoops, 900,000
OSU - Mike Yurcich, 800,000
Iowa State - Jon Heacock, 650,000
Texas Tech - David Gibbs, 650,000
Kansas - Doug Meacham, 521,000
Kansas State - Sean Snyder 480,000
Baylor - not reported

How much did our assistant salary pool increase this year?

Denbrock would be nuts to leave for a mere $100,000 raise because it's a riskier job. So my guess is that they'd have to make him one of the highest 4-5 paid assistants in the Big 12. Do they want him that badly?

Kansas is upping their investment in football: Les Miles' new salary (2.775 mil) is $1 mil higher than their last head coach. But that STILL places them last in the Big 12 for head coach salary (by over $700,000).

I haven't heard a figure yet with regards to our pool. It was $2,425,000. Remember, UH just bumped their to $4M and Memphis is paying $2.635,000, I know a lot of the other assistants were making much less than Denbrock. Per the USA Today:

Mike Denbrock $460,000.
Ron Crook $330,000
Marcus Freeman $275,000
John Tenuta $250,000
Joker Philips $250,000
Steve Stripling $245,000
Gino Guidugli $195,000
Mike Mickens $130,000
Brian Mason $100,000
