Report: Kansas University may pursue Bearcats offensive coordinator Mike Denbrock

Cincinnati Bearcats offensive coordinator and tight ends coach Mike Denbrock "is the name to watch" for a similar role with new Kansas Jayhawks head coach Les Miles' staff, according to a report by 247sports.com's Tom Loy.

From Loy:

Our sources have indicated that Denbrock, who has been coaching for 30-plus years, is very much coveted by those in Lawrence and the higher-ups are working hard to get him on campus for an in-person interview. An offer would likely follow at that point.

All that said, it will take a lot to lure Denbrock away from head coach Luke Fickell and the Bearcats. Sources have made it clear that he’s very happy within the program and knows that the future is extremely bright at Cincinnati.

Denbrock joined the University of Cincinnati football coaching staff in January of 2017 after several seasons as a Notre Dame assistant. He has worked with or for Notre Dame head coach and former UC head coach Brian Kelly at Grand Valley State as well as Notre Dame.

As tight ends coach at Notre Dame, he helped develop former Elder High School standout Kyle Rudolph and Cincinnati Bengals tight end Tyler Eifert into NFL players. Denbrock also became Notre Dame's offensive coordinator when Chuck Martin left the Fighting Irish to become Miami University's head coach.
