I am going to take a swipe at the typical resident of Greater Cincinnati here-- we are very good sports fans when a team is winning or if there is a big event or opponent coming to town, however day to day we are not very good sports fans in terms of supporting the team as compared to a lot of other markets(this applies to other sports entities such as the Bengals and Reds as well-- FCC has done very well so far but it still could be the newness and success factor at play).

We made a lot of headway in growing the fan base during the Big East run; I am afraid the past 2-3 years have killed a lot of the momentum. The OSU and UK bandwagon in this community is back to what it was pre-Big East IMHO. I don't necessarily blame people- we don't get to have nice things here. After decades of ineptitude by the Bengals and Reds, after 20+ years of not getting to the at least the Elite 8 in Bearcat Basketball and continuously shooting itself in the foot, after 3 years of playing the ugliest and least inspiring football games at Nippert Stadium that I have seen in at least 20 years-- even I questioned whether I wanted to go down again for another season of misery (note: I did renew my season tickets and plan to be there each week).
