You may have missed this in several of the earlier post, so I will restate it here:

1) Each Marshall student pays MORE to prop up athletics than a FIU student.
2) More importantly, Marshall athletics takes MORE dollars from the University general funds than FIU.
3) To believe that consistent success at UNT, FAU, FIU would not translate to improved ticket revenue, when that same formula brought in ticket dollars for Marshall, USM seems illogical.

So if the government puts a limit on what can be squeezed from an individual student, Marshall will hurt a lot sooner than FIU. If the government put a limit on what a university can move from general funds to athletics, Marshall will hurt sooner than FIU.

You have missed my point.

#1. Very few people willingly pay to watch any of your sports.

#2. As I mentioned its only a matter of time until the government puts a stop to the subsidizing of athletics on the backs of students like they have in other states. Other states such as VA have not put a cap on per student subsidy but on an overall percentage of athletic budget. Marshall, So Miss, etc, are all under 50% of overall budget being subsidized so I'm not worried about it from our standpoint.

Why is 50% the magic number??? Because that is where your budget stands currently?

Seriously, why is 50% subsidy ok?
