Are there? Maybe a P5 like Kansas but not Stanford. The only reason would be family being close at FAU. Or else he’s passing up top notch academics and top notch athletics some short sighted poor reason. If you actually get a full ride to play there (which he supposedly did) going to FAU is an awful decision.

Did it occur to you, that anyone going to a top P5 program would have to toil on the bench for 2-3 seasons, while, at FAU, he could start right away or after the redshirt? That's not a reason good enough for you?

And most of the NCAA football players do not care as much about academics as they do about NCAA football.

Good players aren’t afraid to compete for positions. The percentage of NCAA football players who make it in the pros is so small you’re incredibly dumb to turn down a better education for an extra 2 years of starting football that hardly anyone watches. So yes it did occur to me I just think it’s a very poor decision.

Now we all know your statement on academics is sadly true... Rice has had more of a problem in basketball lately than in football. Guys who are never going to play in the NBA transferring for a much worse degree will never make sense to me. Some of these guys would have trouble making a 3rd level league in Europe but they’d rather go somewhere where they’re glorified as “athletes” like they were in HS for the remaining time they have in college. At a high ranking academic P5 like Michigan, Stanford, UT you get both.
