I’ll have the coaching buzz piece out shortly (waiting on a call back), but here’s a nugget for you:

@TCU_Baseball assistant Bill Mosiello has emerged as a serious candidate for the @RiceBaseball opening. Was expected to interview at some point this week.

So a high level recruit deciding between TCU and Rice would pick us over TCU because Mosiello is HC here?

I read his bio, and am sure he is a good instructor and knows a lot, but it is not enough to reverse the trend.

While I agree this is a weird turn of events, he clearly has an impressive resume, and is a proven commodity (across multiple organizations) as a hitting coach. Let's not make is sound like Lance is the only candidate out there who can reverse the current trend. That's hog wash.

Second, as others have pointed out, JK is being pressured by far more big donors in support of Lance than those against Lance. I can't believe the non-baseball related issue is the only thing impacting Lance's candidacy. I truly think the experience issue is a factor. I know Lance has done considerable homework to overcome this concern, and has a plan in place with Assistant Coaches to offset the issue, but it's still a factor.

My concern with Mosiello (vs. a Lance or Riser) is age...and a question as to why, with all his experience, he has not been named a head coach yet.
