Paying Riser $150K gives us $150K less to keep up with the Joneses than paying Berkman nothing. It gives us $450K more than paying Wayne $600K. But if TCU and Texas and A&M are the Joneses, we aren't keeping up at any of those numbers.

Tanq nailed it, the trick is how much more we can get out of a Berkman and anybody else who signed a letter. That's what I think has happened with football, and that's how Bloomgren is doing national recruiting. Baseball doesn't need national recruiting, you can win a national championship with talent from within a 50-mile radius. But it does need a bunch of facility improvements, not necessarily to keep up with the Joneses, but at least to keep them in sight.

We would honestly offer a head coach 150K? That is embarrassing. Strength and conditioning coaches make more at power 5 schools.
