One thing about the argument that today’s kids don’t know Berkman. As recently as 2011 he was prominently helping the Cardinals beat the Rangers in the World Series. This year’s HS seniors would have been 11, and particularly with a Texas team involved, I think they would have been aware. That being the case, I would think he’d have significant name recognition with recruits for at least another 5 years, and with their parents for longer.
