Now just to put a good MBB product on the court.

i agree. have not seen in person, hope to do soon, but looks like a gem, home run

beautiful campus - check
academics - check
social friendly student body - check
coeds - check
facilities - check
strong athletic dept / football team - check
proximity to Richmond / DC recruiting hotbeds - check

no more excuses. if we are not at the top of the caa in 3 years - something is wrong. the rest of the caa should be wetting their pants

Love this but to play devils advocate;

Playing MBB in the CAA, it's very difficult to recruit "above the bar"
JMU MBB has weak fan and student support. Winning in the CAA and a great facilities helps but to get to a level where 3 star recruits are interested in JMU, multiple runs in March is needed.
Our OCC schedule has been weak the past 10 or 20 years. To get recruits on TV, we need to play the bigger boys. We need to get to a place where we are a RPI/NET booster instead of a boat anchor.

I think our expectations as fans to be top 3 in the CAA is sad based on what PGJMU2 mentions. The expectations of MBB should be no different than the expectations we have for football. Dominate the conference and make the playoffs (NCAAT) every year.

There are already multiple 3 star players on the roster, and even a 4 star transfer. I don’t think you’ve been keeping pace with the recent roster changes.

Regarding expectations, I would agree that being “top 3” isn’t the goal. With the facilities and quality coaching and university the goal is to dominate.

Maybe bad wording on my part. Should mid major programs/schools with a lot to offer on and off the court even be recruiting at a 2* level? I really like Christmas, a great transfer. However there is a very good reason he didn't stay at VCU.

I don't buy into the star thing 100% when it comes to actual talent but we get pretty excited when we land a small handful of 3 star guys but at the better mid-major programs fans don't get excited until they land a handful of 4 stars.

Someday in the not so distant future (fingers crossed) basketball recruits will be selecting JMU because that's where they really want to be, their first choice instead of 'It's the best I could do at the time"

Nation has already corrected you about Christmas, which only goes to show it wasn’t your wording in your original post that was off. Again, you’ve obviously not been paying close attention to the roster or recruiting. Is the program entirely filled with 3* or above? No. And no mid-major is. Any expectation that a mid-major would only be recruiting 3* players and above is unrealistic, however, the current JMU roster is deep and talented. Let’s see what they can do now under a new HC.
