Talladega College, thinking of going to D2.
.

Talladega College actually going the other direction. Enrollment is increasing, they are adding sports, thinking of moving from NAIA to D2 and also looking at adding football. If BSC were to close, they should go buy all the BSC football equipment and offer all football players a new home. Instant football program, just 50 miles to the east. Also, TC, even though the are private, gets money from the state. They are an HBCU and receive public funds. Might not go directly to them, but through other schools, they receive money.

The thought of B'ham Southern closing is truly sad to me. I was a Methodist growing up in north AL and had been on campus a few times. It's beautiful there but I actually wanted to go to Samford across town - another beautiful campus. BSC has a strong music department and I never imagined it would come to something like this.

Yet, you had to know when they dropped to D3 way back in 2006 that something was up. Small private schools have struggled and the pandemic was the last straw for several. I hate to see it.

Talladega, now. I'm excited that they might join D2 and get football! They already have a marching band that gets a pretty good bit of press coverage performing in several big parades and doing exhibition halftime shows.

They infamously represented Alabama in the Trump Inaugural Parade in 2017.

Just saw a quote from Memaw saying BSC isn’t getting money from the state.

I agree Talladega isn’t likely to close. They are expanding their athletics program.

However, I don’t see a mass movement from BSC to Talladega. Going from BSC to an HBCU doesn’t seem likely to me. Plus they haven’t even announced they are starting a program yet. The BSC guys will have aged out by the time Talladega takes the field.
